2020 is definitely meant to be an unforgettable year for Luxembourg in the UAE!

As we are preparing for the Expo2020 Dubai, the year started with a successful economic mission that took place in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from 26 to 29 January, attracting even more companies from Luxembourg than the previous mission in 2017, with 61 companies and more than 90 participants from various sectors: Health Technology, Logistics, Space, Research and Finance.

The official delegation was headed by HRH the Crown Prince of Luxembourg and led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Mr. Etienne Schneider, and accompagnied by the Minister of Finance Mr. Pierre Gramegna.

This high-level visit was an opportunity for the Grand Duchy to further strengthen its relationship with the UAE. This was illustrated by the signature of several MoUs and agreements in the field of innovation, financial and economic cooperation.

The rapid spread of digital technologies is disrupting production and trade, generating both opportunities and challenges for economic actors, institutions as well as corporate actors. In this field, the Grand Duchy is ranked #2 worldwide in the 2019 Digital Index recently published by Cisco, showing that the country is indeed “digitally ready”.

This digitization is supporting for example the logistics sector, with the transformation of the supply chain services towards a data-driven management, to create a fully optimized supply chain for enhanced performance and productivity. Luxembourg has developed a key expertise in this sector, exporting the know-how of its companies. The LTIO helps doing this through supporting visiting companies, trade missions and official economic visits.

The upcoming Expo2020 Dubai will be a perfect opportunity to even further display how the Grand-Duchy is shaping its future.

While taking advantage of all the new opportunities 2020 is bringing us, we invite you to read the following articles and contact our team in Abu Dhabi if you need more information on Luxembourg activities in the United Arab Emirates.
