From January 28 till February 1, 2019, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (cooperation between the Ministry of the Economy, the Luxembourg Chamber and Commerce and the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Abu Dhabi) had a national pavilion at Arab Health for the very first time.

Arab Health prides itself as the leading healthcare business platform in the Middle East, also attracting professionals from Africa, the Indian subcontinent and Asia/Southeast Asia. Connecting manufacturers and service providers with clinicians, procurement professionals, dealers and distributors is the primary goal of the event. A total of 4.200 exhibitors, including large hospitals and medical centers were present.

A new feature of the show this year was the Innovation Hub – a dedicated area for attendees to immerse themselves in the latest healthcare innovations including AI, disease management, home care devices and telemedicine platform to name a few. At the cutting-edge of medical technology, developments in robotic-assisted surgery are forging new frontiers in the healthcare delivery continuum. Medical device innovation on this level is seen to offer better patient outcomes while maintaining or reducing overall costs.

With healthcare spend in the GCC expected to reach $104.6 billion by 2022 and growing private sector participation, the regional healthcare industry will experience a long term boost. As in Luxembourg, technological sophistication in healthcare is based on the application of artificial intelligence and virtual reality will trigger a paradigm shift in the industry.

Having discussed with the participants from Luxembourg (Ai Mediq, DuPont de Nemours, Ima-x,  Rotarex Meditec, SciPharm, Vidox Consulting), all of them confirmed that the fair was well organised, that the benefits in terms of new opportunities business were positive and that to develop business in the region and beyond, Arab Health is really useful.
