As 2022 kicks off, and we have already passed halfway of the World Expo, it is therefore a pertinent time to take stock of what has been achieved so far.

We kicked off Expo2020 with several Trade Missions led by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and high-level visits to Dubai that enabled to reconnect both Luxembourg and UAE economic ecosystems in multiple growth sectors such as the Space, ICT, Fintech or HealthTech. We are grateful to our UAE partners who welcomed Luxembourg companies and official delegates  and shared their views and expertise in view of further strengthening our cooperation.

On January 23rd, Luxembourg celebrated its Expo 2020 Dubai National Day with a commitment to international cooperation to address the challenges of the future, alongside a varied cultural program highlighting the Pavilion’s theme of “Resourceful Luxembourg” and the country’s values of openness, dynamism and reliability. The ceremony is available online here for those who want to revive a truly heartwarming moment or simply weren’t able to join:

Dubai Expo2020 still has a couple of months to go and already hit 11 million visits so far and we can expect even more in the next few weeks with the exciting program scheduled by the Expo Team and the national pavilions.

As we look forward to welcoming more Luxembourgish entrepreneurs to the UAE for the next months to go, the Luxembourg Diplomatic and Consular Network, including our LTIO, facilitates international investments and Trade. We remain therefore at your disposal if you would like to discuss business opportunities in the UAE or in Luxembourg. Indeed, the latest Global Talent Competitiveness Index has again ranked the country as a top performer in attracting talents, and this newsletter shares example of success stories of entrepreneurs who choose to reach Europe through Luxembourg and the many opportunities for growth in the Grand Duchy. As a recent example, the Canadian company, Northstar Earth & Space will use Luxembourg as its base for further developing its sustainable space activities.

The last few years has brought unexpected challenges for all of us including for the business community but we look forward to a new year full of wins and successes big and small. The Chinese New Year of the Tiger might well be decisive to overcome the pandemic and relaunch the world economy.
